Financial Freedom Quick Tip #1: Have a Dream

If you don’t have a good reason to become financially free, the chances are you’ll never get there.
When I say a good reason, I don’t mean something like “then I won’t have to work anymore”. I mean a reason that is really worth fighting for.
Here are a few examples of good reasons I’ve heard why people wanted to be financially free. To:
- Live stress free and be actively involved in the lives of my family.
- Spend 10 years doing nothing but travel around the world.
- Volunteer and do aid work in Africa.
- Travel to and surf all the best waves on Earth.
- Become a missionary in Indonesia.
- Follow my heart and write novels.
- Start a summer-camp and build into the lives of young people.
What is your reason for wanting to be financially free?

I would love to be financially free so that I wouldn’t have to worry about medical bills for my son, so I could do all those family things with my children that my friends do with theirs, and so I could travel. I am a HUGE history nerd and I would love to travel to all the places I read about – especilly Poland.
BUT, if I’m not able to be and do all these things, it’s alright. Not having financial freedom makes me and my family appreciate what we have.

my dream is to change my family tree. i want to teach my kids, and enable them to start where we left off, not where we started. i have a dream of my family becoming part of something huge…haven’t pinpointed it yet, but I’m pretty sure it will rock the world.

I’m an immensely indecisive person, with a lot of interests, and so for me financial freedom is about the freedom to change my mind. I want the freedom to decide that what I’m doing isn’t right for my life, and act on that.
I also don’t want to end up like my dad, slave to his job for so long that when he retired he still hadn’t figured out what he really loved doing.
I don’t know if this is what you mean by something worth fighting for… I wish I could be more concrete, but I want to travel AND write AND spend more time with my family…

I will be financially-free so that I can travel and meet interesting people from all over the world, learn about other peoples cultures, see the unseen, learn Arabic and live in Thailand and train as a Muay Thai fighter! And so the journey begins…

That’s the spirit, and a worthy dream indeed.

I want to be financially free so that I can show others how to do it. So that I can empart a healthy financial foundation to my children. So that I can adopt a ridiculous amount of children we have no one to love them. So that I can be free to break poverty and entitlement mentalities that consume so many people in this country. So that I can go on mission trips. So that I can fund promising young people filled with potential to start businesses instead of relying on empty promises from government. So that I can learn to play more instruments. So that I can cycle across France and Spain. So that I can spoil my wife with extravagent getaway weekends.
