Financial Freedom Quick Tip #29: Make a Friend

To become financially free is a lot like becoming a big wave surfer. It is not easy. It doesn’t happen overnight. It takes a lot of training, planning, practice and dedication.
The rewards are also similar. The thrill of being free to live your dreams is right up there with the thrill of dropping down the face of a 15 foot wave. The spay of freedom in your face, your board transmitting the contours of the water through your body and the spirit of adventure burning in your heart.
I’m speaking from experience. And from experience, I can tell you it is much easier to take off on a big wave, when you have a friend right there in the water with you. With a friend there is security, encouragement and support. Taking on a monster wave when you are all alone is downright daunting.
Which brings me to the point of this tip. Just like it is easier to surf big waves when you share the experience with a friend, it is a lot easier to become financially free, if you have a friend or two with whom to share the journey and exchange encouragement, support and advice along the way.
You don’t have to tackle the journey on your own. Find a financial mentor from whom you can get advice and encouragement and make some friends who have the same goals and ideals as you.
If you don’t know where to find friends like that, you can start right here. Liberta has a support network of people who are blogging about their journeys to financial freedom and sharing their experiences with each other.
This page has the links to their blogs:
If you start your own blog and accept The Liberta Financial Freedom Challenge, you can also join the support network.
Blogging has a few advantages, but blogging is not for everyone. If it will not work for you, you can also find friends who are passionate about financial freedom in other places.
Whichever way you choose, don’t tackle your journey in isolation. Surround yourself with people who are also passionate about freedom and working wisely with money. Give and get support and encouragement from them.
It is amazing how much easier a difficult thing becomes, when you share it with a friend.

Francois. Dit is net so. Dit is baie makliker vir 2 om ‘n las te dra as een alleen. Dit is soos om te begin oefen. As jy alleen is, dan los jy dit maklik, maar as jy weet jou oefenmaat wag vir jou, dan is jy daar.

The main reason people strugled financially is because they spent years in school but learn nothing about money, the result is that people learn to work for money but never learn to have money work for them.
