However, I may be wrong
This is my official disclaimer.
After a spending a lot of time thinking and writing about evolution, I came to a realization.
There are only three things of which I am 100% certain.
The first is that I exist, the second is that there is a God and the third is that I have been saved by grace through faith.
Of all other things I am uncertain, and I may be wrong.
I only write things of which I am very, let’s say 99.9%, certain. But always remember this if you read anything on Liberta:
I may be wrong.
In fact, I cannot even say, beyond a shadow of a doubt, to a 100% certainty, that I am actually writing this disclaimer. There is a possibility that I am dreaming, hallucinating or just fooling myself.
There is even the possibility that none of the things I experience are, in fact, real. I may be living in a Matrix or Truman Show type world. How would I know?
The Bible
I believe that God’s word is the truth and that the things He said are 100% true.
However, I do still think that, even in the Bible, there are mistakes and inaccuracies. The Bible was written and translated by humans. All humans are fallible.
So even of the things I read in the Bible, I believe them only with a degree of uncertainty.
I exist
Cogito, ergo sum
I think, therefore I am. I am 100% certain of this and I can call it a fact.
God exists, and I am saved
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God.
I believe there is a God and that I have been saved.
I cannot prove that God exists and I cannot say why I believe it.
However, I am 100% certain of His existence. I believe in this fact through faith, and nothing else.
Disclaimer
So now you know – I may be wrong. Don’t take anything I say as an absolute truth.
If you take any actions based on the things I say, I don’t accept responsibility or accountability for the consequences of your actions.
You are solely accountable and responsible for your own decisions, even if they are based on something you’ve read on Liberta.

René Descartes, the French philosopher, mathematician, scientist and writer, known as the Father of Modern Philosophy, coined the phrase, “I think, therefore I am” (From the Latin: Cogito, ergo sum). Fast forward to today, and most people live according to a variation of this phrase: “I am whoever and whatever I think I am.”
Even alcoholics use this phrase in one way or another, “I drink, therefore I am”, but I don’t take responsibility for anyone trying this one :p

I love Descartes little gem – it’s a wonderful cornerstone.
The first thing you know is based on logic.
Your second and third certainties are, you say, based on blind faith, but (here is my addition) I’d also argue that you may cite experience as a factor, because you exist in the first place.
The third is also a logical conclusion of your experienced relationship with belief number 2.

@Reaper
LOL… the only problem with the “I drink, therefore I am” is that I don’t drink.
Which would leave people living by that statement to be of the opinion that I don’t exist.
Perhaps they think I’m only an illusion brought on by a drunken stupor.
@Damian
Hmmmm… I suppose that’s kind of it. However, as I’ve mentioned, I cannot trust my experience, since I cannot say without a doubt that I’m not living in a make believe world.
And also, in a chain of logic reason, if one of the links in the chain (in this case my belief in God) is based on faith, then any logical deductions following on that link is also based on faith.
Makes sense hey? Perfectly logical.

Haha, drinking is pointless, it’s just a way to increase the estimated value of your urine per cubic millimeter.
Have you ever considered what it would have mean if there was said “I think, therefore I am not”?
“Am” can not exist without “Am not”, so in essence, Descartes was only telling half the truth or half the lie …

Die Bybel is wel deur mense geskryf ja, dis reg, maar hulle is deur die Heilige Gees geinspireer en kon dus nie foute gemaak het nie.
