Nowadays, she cares a lot less – and she is even proud about it: I’m proud of my frugality, and I’m completely open about buying used stuff, driving old cars, and making do with what we have.

These needs are things like: the need to make a difference, the need to help others and the need to live a meaningful life. A man, who looks past his need for comfort and recognition and instead allows himself to be driven by the need to help others, by choosing to give up his career and instead become a volunteer with an aid organization, that distributes food to people in need.

Getting something you deserve is like getting a payment from someone, who owes you money. Here’s the thing about love: Love cannot be deserved. If you deserve someone’s love, that person has no choice.

My vision and prayer, more than anything else, is that these people will choose to use their freedom to pursue and live the passions and dreams that God placed in their hearts, to love the people they meet in the way God loves them, and to live lives that bring glory to God.

Next time you, or someone you love, is tempted to make debt to buy something as a treat, or a reward, or because you deserve something special, remember that debt comes with cost.

If you have a humble spirit, you will know this truth about yourself: that like all other humans you have weaknesses, you are fallible, and that’s OK.
