What is Wellness?

Wellness is an approach to healthy living, that takes the whole human being – body, mind and spirit – into consideration. The goal is to become optimally healthy and balanced in all areas of life.
As human beings, we communicate through our physical bodies. It is often easy to use physical things, like exercise and eating, as channels to improve other areas of your health. Wellness coaching often makes use of physical activities.
However, wellness is about much more than physical exercise and healthy eating. In particular, it is also about the health of your:
- relationship with God,
- relationships with other people,
- exercise habits,
- eating habits,
- emotions,
- thought-patterns,
- work habits, and
- finances.
The aim is to stop doing things that are harmful to you, start and keep doing things that are good for you, and maintain a healthy balance between it all.

All good advice. The hard part is following it and doing a good job at following it. It’s not easy being good.
Great post.

Dankie Francois.

@Robin & Riaan:
Thanks for the feedback!
I’m planning quite a few posts about wellness for the next few months…
